Fambul Tok – The Film
You’re invited to walk alongside the ordinary people of Sierra Leone as they do the extraordinary work of coming to terms with the grim realities of their civil war. Through the documentary film about the Fambul Tok program in Sierra Leone, you can have a seat at the bonfire. You can witness the extraordinary moments of truth telling, apology, and forgiveness, and see these communities literally rise up from the ashes.
Catalyst for Peace and Libby Hoffman have been committed to sharing the Fambul Tok stories since the program’s inception, knowing they would have much to teach the world. Hoffman turned to her long-time collaborator, Sara Terry, who’d witnessed the birth of Fambul Tok, bringing her on to direct and produce a film on Fambul Tok right from the start. Five trips to Sierra Leone and 150 hours of tape later, the filming is complete, and the film is in post-production.
Award-winning filmmaker Rory Kennedy and Moxie Firecracker Films joined the production team in the fall of 2009. Brian Singbiel is the Editor, and Henry Jacobson is the Director of Photography.
The film is due to be completed in the summer of 2010.
